Bobbin Bug Speculative Design
Adobe Illustrator | Various Sizes
“Bobbin Bug” was a hypothetical product I developed branding materials for during a speculative design project. The assignment was largely conceptual, with the challenge of creating an item to solve a modern-day problem with futuristic technology. For this project, I developed a robot device that fixed damaged clothes to combat clothing waste, fast fashion, and overconsumption.
The core objective of Bobbin Bug’s branding was accessibility and versatility to appeal to audiences young and old who may struggle with sewing techniques and technology usage. To achieve this, I developed both print and digital materials with the objective of simplicity and straightforward UI. The name and logo for Bobbin Bug were conceptualized with the intent of reducing the stigma of technology being complex and confusing as a way to draw in audiences who may be intimidated by machinery. The linear pattern accenting the materials in this brand set is based on sewing machine stitches to visually reinforce Bobbin Bug’s ultimate goal of reliability and efficiency.
