In Design Streak Studio, my team was tasked with creating branding and signage for the exhibition “Stowaway with the Ewings” at Ewing Manor in Bloomington, IL that showcased the artifacts collected during the world tour of the manor’s founding family. My role in this project was to create the template used on totem banners that marked the different sections found through the exhibit. The visual elements I applied within this piece, most notably the postage stamp border patten, were made with heavy reference to the decorative style of the event’s master flyer to create a sense of cohesion between all exhibition materials. In addition to formatting the banner templates, I was also tasked with designing one of five banners to provide information about the manor’s Chinese relics. Red, often considered a lucky color in China, is dominant color in this banner to compliment the rich cultural history of the objects. Each design choice in these pieces was made with close consultation with the manor’s board of directors to ensure the best representation of the manor’s curatorial work.
