This project's overall objective was to create packaging for a product that served a second purpose after being opened. I focused on leaning toward environmentalism for this concept and conceptualized a meal kit that could be repurposed into a planter with supplementary materials to help young people learn how to cook. As an ecologically conscious person, I focused on using visual motifs throughout this packaging to remind consumers of how easy and simple it is to be sustainable. I chose a palette of light and friendly earth tones paired with a simple, yet decorative cursive display font to engage young and socially conscious customers who may be interested in sustainability. Illustrations combining common kitchen wares and plant imagery are used as a pattern on the main packaging to draw attention to the product’s purpose as a practical sustainability tool while still maintaining an air of playfulness.
