This project required the compilation and production of a forty-five-page informational booklet that presented facts and statistics about a specific country. I study and speak French and am very interested in Francophone culture, so I used this opportunity to apply my prior knowledge into an exciting design exploration. I designed the cover of this book in the style of 1950’s vintage French children’s books with Fleur de Lis accents to create a culturally authentic and inviting window to the unique information inside. Each section of the book is marked by headers in the style of Parisian Street signs to make the viewer feel as if they are finding their way through the country via the information that they read. The color palette and visuals within the book are inspired by the bright and dynamic work of modernist French artists by the likes of Matisse and Chagall to engage audiences with images and infographics, all while showcasing the uniqueness of French visual storytelling through art.
